Why you need your own Apple developer account for AppStore publishing and how to create it?
In order to publish your app in the Apple App Store, as of the beginning of 2018, we can no longer use our central developer account for your app as we did in the past. Apple has implemented corresponding changes to its guidelines, which now require the customer—that is, you—to have your own account.
Please note that publishing your app is generally not required, as it can be accessed at any time via your globally accessible app address (displayed at the top of the App Management section) on iOS devices and can also be installed as a modern web app.
To learn why the World Wide Web is the better place to market your app, read our article “The Web Is the New App Store – App Marketing 2.0.”
If you still wish to have your app listed in the App Store, please provide us with this access now. Please note that Apple will charge a separate fee of 99 EUR for this in the future!
Here’s how to sign up:
1. Go to https://developer.apple.com/ and sign in with your existing Apple ID; if you don’t have one, create a new one. To do this, click “Account” in the top right corner and then select “Sign In” or “Create Apple ID.”
2. After verifying your identity and logging in for the first time, please click on “Join the Developer Program” in the Developer Portal.
- Then click “Enroll” in the top-right corner. Important! For the account type, you should preferably select “Organization,” otherwise your personal login credentials—including passwords—will need to be shared with us upon publication.
4. Follow the remaining instructions and pay the fee to Apple. Apple will then verify the information you provided and activate your account. This may take a few hours or 1 to 2 days.
5. Finally, you’ll need to enter the login credentials you provided at the beginning in the App Management section under “App Stores & Co.” and then approve the release.
(Note—Effective February 2019)
- In the “Password” field, simply enter “Invitation sent” and grant us permission. To do this, add us as a new user under “AppConnect Users.” The following entries are important:
Only then can we promptly handle the publication of your app in the Apple App Store as well.
Don’t worry—you can sit back and relax. We’ll take care of all further technical preparations and any subsequent communication with Apple.
