Digital transformation strikes, now in your app too…
Greetings, dear readers,
Digital transformation is finally here.
Modern technology such as smartphones and tablets has changed for good how we find information and how we buy things.
Today, customers look for solutions on the mobile internet first. Research shows that they do so in every situation imaginable.
This mostly happens on impulse, in so-called “micro-moments”, which smartphone users of all ages and interests have at any time of the day or night.
How and why does it affect my app?
Because Google increasingly links its search results to the apps listed in the App Store and on Google Play, your potential customers and fans may well come across your app along the way.
Reason enough to review at regular intervals how your products and services are presented in your app: are they easy to understand, and can people get in touch or order straight away?
To make it easier for you to present your mobile offering and expand it with extra value, we have added a few small new features over the past months. Here is our top list:

News and Events – fine-tune who gets your push notifications with a separate opt-in.
Create news sections for which users can switch push notifications on and off as they wish. Ideal, for example, for closed menu areas, so that you can keep small groups of people up to date through the same app too.

Loyalty card – live, digital and in colour?
Do you have a local shop and customers who keep coming back? Regulars and a circle of fans? Then why not offer them a loyalty card, digital and straight from the app. Do something for the environment, save paper and help your own app spread at the same time. More in the blog post

Videos – play the right videos from Vimeo as well as from YouTube.
If you embed YouTube videos in your app, you will often have come across adverts after they finish. And if those are your competitor’s videos, the fun stops. Now you can embed uploaded videos, playlists, favourites and more from Vimeo whenever you need to. Spare yourself and your users unsuitable third-party advertising.

Picture gallery – freshened up, with swipe effect and captions
The modernised picture gallery now lets you choose from more layouts, among other things, and add a caption to every picture. Managing the pictures is also much, much easier. Try it out and let your pictures dance under your finger.

Mobile shop – with unit prices and large pictures
Your built-in shops now let you state unit prices, including the unit. The price for a given quantity is calculated automatically too. If you wish, customers now have to accept your separately stored terms and conditions before they order. Payment in advance is now available as a payment method as well. Your items are shown with larger pictures, and prices are much clearer. Availability depends on your app package.

Last but not least… why you should treat yourself to a new release of your app.
Besides updated screenshots and a revised description, a new release also builds further technical improvements into your app.
Among other things, your app will then perform at its best again on older Android 4.0 – 4.4 devices, cache content better for offline use and, in future, be able to receive push notifications with built-in pictures or action buttons. There are more interesting things on top of that, which we will tell you about in the near future.
With an updated version in the stores, these will be ready to use as soon as they are released. You can start the update under the “App Stores & Co.” tab.
