This is how easy installing a progressive web app can be

When installing an app, many users normally turn to Google Play or Apple’s App Store. What you usually hear is: “Surely I have to download the app, and you can only do that from the stores”.

With the growing trend towards progressive web apps, that route is no longer necessary. Browsers now offer plenty of help with installing such apps. The problem, however, is that this differs a great deal from browser to browser, device type and operating system.

To make installing easier for your users in future, we have brought all these variants together and developed a simplified process. From now on, it shows tailored hints in your apps for whatever device is being used, and even lets people install the app straight from within it.

As soon as users open your app directly or find it through a search engine, a suitable hint appears prominently at the bottom.

In addition to the hint at the bottom, there is, for example, a visible notice at the top that lets users install the app straight away via “Install now”.

If direct installation is not possible, tailored instructions are shown instead.
